Our main aims

 

To encourage all (boys and girls) to take part and have fun on and off the field


To arrange coaching and fixtures for all teams ages and ability levels


To encourage a sporting ethos and culture of success through hard work and enjoyment


To offer avenues to those who are keen to develop their skills at local clubs and England


Hockey Development Centres with over 150 boys and girls being nominated to the Hampshire JDC

What we do

 

80% of pupils (boys and girls) play hockey, making it the most popular co- educational sport in the school


The hockey season covers ⅔ of the school year


LWC puts out 18 boys’ teams and 14 girls’ teams, playing approximately 260 fixtures, with 420 hours of training annually


Hockey matches are played mainly on Wednesdays and Saturdays


Each team has a dedicated coach


The U14s and U18s are represented at the Hampshire Cup


There is an end-of-season tour to KES Bath for the senior boys’ 1st XI


There is an annual Interhouse Hockey competition


There is a “Pathway” for LWC pupils via local hockey clubs
