The Stern Challenge, Runners vs Paddlers
Sunday 4th May 2025
Calling all students, staff, parents, and Sternians! This year’s Stern Challenge will take place over the May Exeat Weekend, raising funds for the incredible Lord Wandsworth Foundation. The challenge is a relay race along the Basingstoke Canal, starting and finishing at Greywell Tunnel, where we’ll compete against a team of paddlers to cover the distance fastest. It’s open to everyone, from beginners aiming for a 5km to those tackling an ultra-marathon over 12 hours. The 100km route is mostly flat and easy to navigate, and runners will be supported in teams with LWC members, ensuring no one is left behind.
Participants will train for their distance and raise at least £70 for the cause. Each runner will receive a branded t-shirt, with food and drinks provided along the route. The event has become a highly anticipated part of the LWC calendar, offering a fun, team-focused day with plenty of support and cheers along the way!
