Boarding
Here at LWC we pride ourselves on the quality of the pastoral care we provide for all of our pupils whether day or boarding (flexi, weekly or full).
Relationships between staff and pupils are excellent and the children have a wide variety of people they can approach with any concerns they might have.
Our senior boys and girls play an active role in looking out for and helping the younger pupils. We also have a peer support programme called Peer Mentoring and a number of pupils across the year groups and Houses have been trained as peer supporters and certificated as such.
Everyone also has a tutor, allocated by House up until the end of the 6th Form. Whatever stage our students are at, their tutors guide them in every sense; academically, pastorally, socially and with our extensive co-curricular.
All pupils are members of a boarding House, whether day, flexi, weekly or full boarders. In their Houses they enjoy the support of their Houseparent, their Resident Tutor/s, their Visiting Tutors and of course their Matrons!
The Chaplain also visits the Houses on a regular basis and provides yet another source of invaluable support for the students.

So, the 2024 British Speedgolf Pairs (foursomes) Championships are over for another year. 🏌️🏃♀️
The event was full of folk who love their golf, enjoy keeping fit, as well as meeting new people. Speedgolf is about as inclusive as it gets, whether you`re an elite professional or just wanting to find a way to innovate your game.
Huge congratulations to professionals Luke Willett and Luke Bone on their superb win today over the beautiful and challenging Sand Martins GC – it was richly deserved. We are waiting to hear whether national and world records have been broken.
The game goes from strength to strength, so if you have an ounce of interest or curiosity, jump onto the British Speedgolf website (link in bio) and give it a go. There will be events and masterclasses for our parents at Alton GC in the months and years ahead.
It was also brilliant to see so many LWC pupils and parents involved, whether administrating, playing, or acting as running scorers for the event. The future of Speedgolf is in safe (and very fast) hands! LWC is also delighted to play a part in the evolution of the sport as a sponsor of the national game.
And after months of training, Jack Malden and I managed to sneak a second place… We saw excellent performances from parents Geoff Legg and Aidan Neill, too. One suspects this is just the start of a new era.
As for now, time to rest those legs a little, replenish the golf ball supply and remember to put on suncream next time.
The CCF held its Biennial Review on Friday and welcomed Colonel Lucy Giles to the College to conduct it. During the afternoon, the cadets competed in a number of different activities. Amongst other things, the RAF cadets performed a brilliant drill display for the Colonel, and the Army cadets laid on a section attack, where they attacked an enemy bunker with lots of ammunition and smoke!
The afternoon was a huge success, and Colonel Giles told the cadets she was very impressed with what she saw.
In the evening, we enjoyed a celebratory Black-Tie Dinner. It was a lovely occasion to welcome back Sternians and entertain parents and distinguished guests. At the dinner, we handed over the ‘swords of honour’ to the new Heads of Army and RAF Sections.
Iceland Trek 2025 – So lovely to meet a few of our Iceland Trekkers on Sunday as we headed out on our 1st training walk in preparation for our challenge in February 2025.
