Speech Day 2026

Speech Day 2026 celebrated another phenomenal year at Lord Wandsworth College.

 

Following days of record June temperatures, the LWC community came together on Saturday, 27^th June, to honour students across the school and to mark the departure of this year’s Upper Sixth Form.

 

“Today, we pause to recognise not only achievement, but also the emotion and experience that have quietly shaped the journey along the way,” reflected Head, Adam Williams. “As we gather in this classically British marquee…we are reminded of the simple value of being together.”

 

The day began with a Presentation of Colours ceremony for members of the Upper Sixth Form in receipt of Colours, Honours and Distinctions.

 

These mark success achieved across Sport, Performing Arts, Creative Arts, Service and Leadership.

   

The main Speech Day prize-giving got underway with a welcome from Senior Deputy Head, Tom Hicks. There were also reflections from LWC’s three Heads of College: Will, Alice and Charlie amidst the awards being handed out to all year groups. Named Prizes and Character Awards followed, for those members of the community who have consistently brought the College values to life.  

   

Music was provided by LWC’s talented musicians, before all attendees were invited to step outside and line the route from the Speech Day Marquee to the Acorn Gates, in order to applaud the outgoing Upper Sixth Form.

   

“New places, new people and new challenges await,” added Mr Williams. “Meet them with a spirit of adventure, tempered by compassion, honesty and quiet confidence. There will, inevitably, be rough weather…yet perseverance, sound judgement and courage often carry us to calmer waters.”

 

Congratulations to all for another triumphant ten months in the 1200.
