We were delighted to host the annual Maths Logic Cup yesterday. It is always fantastic to welcome teams from our local prep and junior schools, who visit us each year to compete in this fun and engaging maths competition.
The teams are made up of four pupils from Years 5 and 6 and this year we had competitors from Bentley School, Bishopsgate, Hall Grove, Highfield and Brookham, Ripley Court, South Farnham, St Mary’s CE Primary School, Stroud-KES, Twyford and Yateley Manor.
During the day, we tested their mathematical ability through quizzes, maths trails and relay races. There was such a buzz in the room and a real sense of friendly competition! The maths trail caused particular excitement as the pupils got to explore our campus, solving maths clues along the way. Lots of discussion went on over who might win and every team did brilliantly in this closely fought contest.
The final result saw Bishopsgate in 3rd place, Twyford in 2nd place and the proud winners were Yateley Manor. We ended the afternoon with medals and winners’ trophy being awarded by LWC Headmaster, Mr Williams.
Huge thanks to all the staff from each competing school. It was fantastic to host such a friendly, happy group of children and we hope they enjoyed a taste of life at LWC.
Thanks also to Mrs Dawson-Couper, LWC’s Head of Mathematics, the mastermind behind the event, her brilliant maths team and a group of our Upper Sixth, A Level Maths students who were on hand to support.
