LWC’S ‘THE MASKED SINGER’

Admm8h | 16 January 2023

The whole school were brilliantly entertained on Friday night as 7 brave staff took to the stage to sing their hearts out at LWC’s version of ITV’s ‘The Masked Singer’! We saw incredible performances from our cleverly disguised contestants, who had plucked up the courage to sing in front of a packed Sutton Hall.

We were wowed by Mr Williams as Lion and his big band rendition of a Sinatra classic, delighted by Dr Haydock’s dreamy Doris Day cover as Astronaut. Miss Edgar surprised the judges and the crowd as Shaggy Dog and a gorgeous Lewis Capaldi track and Miss Bastiman’s soulful cover of Hallelujah was magical. Mr Hamilton, as Grandfather Clock was excellent with his Phantom of the Opera ballad and Miss Reeks, who encountered some technical challenges, blew us away with her melodic ‘A thousand miles’. Last but not least was the excellent Mr Malden who had generously stepped in at the last minute. He channelled his inner rap artist, dressed as Pirate Captain and delivered a very entertaining version of B.O.B’s Magic.

The judges struggled to guess who was under the masks, with inspired costumes from our brilliant textile department. In the end, the audience voted Pirate Captain Malden the winner as he was impossible to work out with his dazzling rap performance!

Another fantastic LWC event – many thanks to the event organiser, Mr Andrews, for entertaining us and the tech team for all their hard work
