Sarah Walker | 25 October 2024

Lord Wandsworth College is delighted to have provided the backdrop to the Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire Awards 2024 last night (24th October).

The Lord-Lieutenant, Nigel Atkinson Esq awarded 17 Meritorious Service Certificates and one Best Reservist Award. Five Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets were also appointed.

This formal and prestigious event recognises individuals who embody the volunteer ethos. Certificates for Meritorious Service are awarded to members of the Reserve and Cadet Forces. Each year, the Lord-Lieutenant also appoints a number of cadets from the Combined Cadet Force and each of the community Cadet Forces to support him on official engagements. This appointment is a marker of outstanding service.

Attendees were hosted in Julyans Dining Hall and The Orangery for refreshments, before the ceremony which took place in Gavin Hall.

The evening was organised by the South East Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association. A spokesperson added, “SERFCA is incredibly grateful to Lord Wandsworth College for allowing us to host the event there.”
