LWC 5th Form Celebrate Early GCSE Results
Sarah Walker | 22 January 2026
LWC’s iGCSE English Language results now rank the College in the top one per cent of schools when it comes to progress made in the subject.
127 5th Form students received their results this morning (Thursday, 22nd January), having sat the iGCSE English Language exam in November.
21 per cent of the grades achieved were ranked as a 9, with 64 per cent between 7 and 9.
These extraordinary results mean that Lord Wandsworth College has achieved Alps 1 status for GCSE English Language.
Alps is a national benchmarking tool measuring how much progress students make in each subject, compared to those educated elsewhere in the country.
Head of English at LWC, Chris Radmann added, “We were delighted by the many smiles and whoops of joy as GCSE pupils opened their envelopes. This is their first experience of a public, ‘final’ examination. We are so proud of their hard work – it’s extremely satisfying.”
Angela Watson, LWC’s Deputy Head (Academic), concluded, “January’s GCSE outcomes reflect our commitment to ambitious, pupil-centred education, with English Language delivering exceptional value added. These results illustrate our belief in widening worlds by combining high academic standards with care, opportunity and a culture where everyone is supported to flourish.”
