GCSE RESULTS DAY 2022

Admm8h | 25 August 2022

Teenagers are remarkable people.

Passionate, determined, energetic and principled, they add a richness to society and make schools vibrant and inspirational places to work. At LWC, our pupils have relished the chance to test themselves against the rigours of their GCSE courses, not to mention savouring opportunities beyond the classroom – something that is part of the culture here.

This GCSE year group are currently Under 16 national girls’ hockey champions, county rugby champions (15s and 7s), and reached the last 16 of the girls’ Under 18 national cricket Hundred competition. They have also produced some exceptional exam results again this year, well ahead of 2019 levels. 17% grade 9s, 55% grade 9-7s, 88% Grades 9-5s and a 98% pass rate. This, in a school that has been shortlisted for two more national educationalawardthis summer, on top of being voted Independent School of the Year for Wellbeing during the lockdown years and in the top 100 Cricket Schools in the UK for the 8th year running.

Particular congratulations go to Ned Banks and Amelia Ralls for achieving straight grade 9s in all subjects and to Anya Burrows (9 grade 9s), Flo Coughlin, George Morris (8 grade 9s) and Sam Fussey (6 Grade 9s).

At the top of the tables this year were Computer Science, English and the creative subjects. In fact, Art, Drama and Music (notably choral), are fantastic presently.

Adam Williams, Headmaster, said. “We love what we do here at LWC. As we celebrate 100 years of pupils at the school this October, our big skies, 1200 acres of green spaces, exceptional staff and courage to think beyond the norm, means education is being reimagined in this part of North Hampshire. Our pupils are thriving.”
