It was wonderful to welcome so many of our Foundation families, Governors, Trusts and Charities, donors and guests to Foundation Day. The event is a celebration of the work of the Lord Wandsworth Foundation, which remains at the heart of all that we do here at LWC.
We heard inspiring stories from Foundationers, past and present, listened to wonderful music performed by pupils and watched some heart warming films featuring pupils, sharing their LWC journey.
Beth Jackson, our Foundation Prefect, did a fantastic job in hosting the event and commented:
‘It was a really lovely day, finally being able to gather all together again, with former and current Foundationers, alongside charities and families who have been helped and supported by the Foundation.
From my perspective, it was a somewhat challenging day too as I told my story of how I came to LWC and reflected on the time I have spent here before I leave and go to university.
Foundation Day is also probably one of the most important dates in the school year as it provides an opportunity to gather with Foundationers and celebrate the origins of the College and how fundamental the Foundation is to life here.
Overall, it was a wonderful day and I look forward to coming back over the years and celebrating the Foundation and everyone who has been helped by it.’
Leah Morgan from the Royal National Children’s Springboard Foundation gave an inspiring and thought provoking speech outlining the support they provide for vulnerable children and the work they do with the Lord Wandsworth Foundation, having been linked with us for many years.
