We were delighted that our 6th form students could take part in the Open Section of the Cotterill Cup on Monday afternoon, some performing for the last time at LWC.

Each of the 8 students performed a 10 minute recital, all with exceptional programmes, including a Rachmaninoff Cello Sonata from Millie B and some Stevie Wonder, Sweet Child of Mine on the electric guitar from Alex S. Hugo D entertained us with Tequila on the saxophone, Hugh H-C played some Black Sabbath and in contrast Jack H sang a beautiful version of Gluck’s O Del Mio Dolce Ardor as part of his recital. As Lucy Z could not be present, her pre-recorded piano recital, including Debussy’s Clair De Lune was shown on screen. Christian White, judging the competition awarded the runner- up to Harvey W who performed his own piece, Sonatina for Saxophone and Piano, and the winner Ellen Green for her wonderful violin performances of Bach’s Concerto in E major and Beethoven’s Spring Sonata. Well done to all those who took part.
