CENTENARY
FESTIVAL

Admm8h | 24 July 2023

To see our Centenary year out in style, we hosted a two-day festival for the whole LWC community. Hundreds of pupils, staff, family, friends and Sternians gathered at the top of our stunning campus, over looking the woodland and fields beyond, for this jam packed celebration! Both days were filled with live performances of music and dance, there was a funfair, a motor show, a mini farm and so much more in what really was a celebration to remember!

To kick things off on Friday, we hosted a fantastic evening of music, showcasing our talented pupils. We were dazzled by our incredible Centenary Choir and the Concert Band with special Sternian guests playing throughout the evening. The brilliant Paul Sykes Big Band closed the show with his team of 17 musicians!

The crowds feasted on the culinary delights from our delicious food village, serving up everything from pizza to paella, gourmet burgers, chilli and sushi, with plenty of mouthwatering drinks from the Centenary Bar, kindly supported by the fantastic team at The Red Lion, Odiham.

A magical fireworks finale closed the show and guests headed home regaling wonderful stories of the event.

On Saturday we ramped up the festivities with some fantastic rides; a vintage ferris wheel and dodgem cars. Paul Sigley, our Farm Manager, delighted guests with tractor rides across the fields and campus, taking in wonderful LWC landmarks.

Throughout the day there was more incredible music from pupils and Sternians, along with fantastic dance performances, drama solos and group showcases from our talented performing artists. The Art School had excelled themselves with several stunning exhibitions across the campus along with Miss Hampson’s excellent ‘100 Portraits’ of our Junior pupils to commemorate our Centenary.

We topped the event off with the excellent ‘Real Love’, a seven-piece pop band, who played a mix of contemporary chart hits, whilst guests danced the early evening away!
