"Attention is the beginning of devotion." (Mary Oliver) 👁

For the past two weeks, @suzannewinnartist, has been LWC`s artist-in-residence.

Through a series of workshops and lessons with students and staff, she set out to encourage us all to really notice our stunning 1200-acre setting and experiment with different ways to capture it.

A different perspective that`s yielded breathtaking results. 🖌

Stronger, together.

Sometimes the most effective support comes from those who really know how you`re feeling.

On this World Mental Health Day, we`re celebrating LWC`s Peer Mentors.

These 4th and Sixth Formers connect with students across the College as both role models and buddies.

Offering a listening ear to all age groups, they receive dedicated training in peer mentorship and mental health first aid, encouraging others to speak up if things don`t feel ok.

And it is ok, to not feel ok.

Three cadets....three stories.

As the inaugural National Cadets Week draws to a close, three LWC students describe what it means to be part of the College`s CCF contingent.

Pippa, Max and Sophie make up the 120+-strong contingent shared with Basingstoke`s Costello and Odiham`s Robert May`s Schools.

National Cadets Week aims to celebrate cadet forces like ours across the UK and the positive impact they continue to have.

Facing the fear and doing it anyway... ⛰

From mastering mountainous peaks to crawling through craggy caves, this has been so much more than a residential for LWC`s 1st Form.

Their recent three-day adventure to Somerset`s Mendip Hills has given our Year 7s something bigger than a bag of muddy clothes.

"By taking risks, living outside of their comfort zones and overcoming challenges, the children discover just how much they are capable of," explains Bramley Houseparent, Pete Maidment.

(They still have muddy clothes...sorry about that).

"Your life and your experience matter." 📚

The message to LWC`s 1st and 2nd Form from best-selling poet and author, @mattgoodfellowpoet.

Matt spent National Poetry Day in The 1200 yesterday, leading workshops encouraging Years 7 & 8 to experiment with their creativity by putting their own lives at the centre of it.

Matt`s award-winning novel-in-verse, `The Final Year `, was gifted to all 1st Formers joining LWC in September.

"I enjoy connecting with young people and opening doors for them," he told us.

Doors: Opened 🗝

🇨🇳 Thank you China 🇨🇳

A squad of 16 are back at LWC after a phenomenal six-day football tour to the Chinese city of Shenzhen.

The trip saw them play local opposition in front of large crowds, attend school, visit the HQ of electric vehicle manufacturer, BYD and explore a city which has transformed from a small fishing town to a global tech powerhouse.

(Fun fact: 70% of the world`s drones are now made in Shenzhen.)

Thank you for your hospitality, Shenzhen. We look forward to welcoming you back to The 1200.
