🐌 Snail anyone?
LWC`s 3rd and 4th Form French students have been on a culinary adventure in the Saint-Omer region of north-western France.
Language lessons, town trails and beach cricket were accompanied by a trip to a chocolatier, crêpe-making and a visit to a traditional snail farm.
Eating snails dates back to prehistoric Spain, but now France leads the way in consuming nearly 700 million of them every year.
These little gastropods are rich in iron, magnesium, vitamin B12 and amino acids... although LWC`s food critics remained unconvinced.

🪖 Nearly 112 years after the outbreak of WW1, LWC has been to the battlefields of France and Belgium.
This 3rd Form History trip offered more than simply an opportunity to learn what happened there.
"Understanding the conditions, scale of loss and sacrifice helps students to empathise with accounts from this period that they will go on to study," explained Head of History, Jonathan Lilley.
Taking in the Menin Gate, Lochnagar Crater, Wellington Tunnels at Arras and the Thiepval Memorial, this group was able to pause, reflect and even discover family connections caught in the conflict.

Staying with host families in this northwestern region, a group of LWC Lower Sixth and 4th Form Spanish students have been immersing themselves in everything España.
From language lessons to cookery classes and all the churros you can eat in between.
There was even time for some football in front of a Roman aqueduct.

Reaching new heights 🏇🏻
LWC`s Equestrian Teams put in an incredible performance at the NSEA Championships at Hickstead.
The College`s Dressage, Arena Eventing and Show Jumping Teams were all in action, having qualified as Hampshire County Champions.
5th Former, Erin also gained individual top ten placings in all of her show jumping classes.
As for the horses... phenomenal 🐴

LWC`s CCF contingent has undergone its biennial inspection, led by RAF Odiham’s Station Commander, Group Captain Sarah Moorehead OBE.
Gp Capt Moorehead made the short journey from her neighbouring RAF base to meet cadets and staff, before witnessing the range of training offered in the 1200.
Marksmanship practice, the CCF`s paintball lane, field gun skills, rocket launches and drone flying were all on display, followed by afternoon tea.
“The inspection team commented on the excellent programme of activities that they saw," added LWC`s CCF School Staff Instructor, Ian Rockett.

Navigating to The Needles... 🌊
Students hoping to secure their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh`s Award have been putting in the legwork, with a qualifying expedition on the Isle of Wight.
Starting in the north, they navigated their way across the island, camping along the way, before picking up the coastline to The Needles and beyond.
