New Co-curricular

We love the feeling of being spoilt for choice…

Widening Worlds

At LWC, we are committed to widening pupils’ worlds through a rich and inspiring co-curricular programme that runs alongside and blends into, the very best academic teaching.

We encourage an expansive mindset in all our pupils; being comfortable about the unknown and willing to try new things. On the 1200 there are countless paths and possibilities that await and so much to be gained by jumping in.

Over the past twenty years, pupils have enjoyed more than 500 clubs, societies and clinics, a testament to the energy and enthusiasm of our outstanding teaching team, who constantly create new and engaging experiences.

Decisions, decisions…

In any given year, there are around 130 clubs and activities to choose from, both on campus, as well as committees and societies running throughout the day and into evenings, and off campus, including academic and sporting trips, as well as charity and outreach work. There will be hard decision to make each term!

We believe that learning alongside friends old and new, is the perfect way to grow, fail forwards and have a huge amount of fun.

Co-curricular is across 5 key areas Academic, Creative, Active, Service and Leadership, every opportunity is designed to inspire, challenge and help pupils develop into confident, well-rounded individuals.

Our Approach to Co-Curricular Development

At Lord Wandsworth College, co-curricular life extends far beyond clubs and sports. Our programme is designed to develop the whole person, offering students opportunities to grow academically, socially, physically and personally through a rich variety of experiences.

House competitions and events foster teamwork, healthy competition and school spirit, giving students the chance to contribute meaningfully to their community while building lasting friendships and confidence.

Trips and expeditions, both local and international, provide valuable real-world learning experiences that broaden horizons, encourage independence and inspire curiosity beyond the classroom.

Committees and pupil voice initiatives ensure students play an active role in shaping school life, offering leadership and organisational opportunities while empowering them to make a positive impact within the College community.

Meanwhile, charity work, volunteering and outreach initiatives encourage compassion, responsibility and social awareness, helping students develop a strong sense of service and global citizenship.

Together, these experiences enrich the co-curricular programme and reflect our belief that education should extend beyond academic success, enabling every student to discover their strengths, pursue their passions and thrive in all aspects of College life.

Explore the world through our trips programme

Our  trips and expeditions programme offers students a wide range of opportunities to learn, explore and challenge themselves beyond the 1200.

From residential experiences and Duke of Edinburgh expeditions in the Mendips, to academic enrichment through trip and fieldwork opportunities, students are encouraged to develop independence, resilience and curiosity.

Sporting tours and training camps take students across the world, including hockey in Holland and Bilbao, rugby in South Africa, skiing trips and warm weather training in Lanzarote, while adventure opportunities such as CCF Adventure Training and the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race promote teamwork, determination and personal growth.

Environmental and cultural experiences, including the Tenerife Nature and Environment Trip, further broaden students’ horizons and reflect the diversity of opportunities available throughout the year.
