Somayeh Aghnia
Co-Founder and CEO of Geeks, Somayeh is a technology strategist with a strong software delivery heritage, Somayeh thrives on creating harmony between technology and humans in business and life. She has won multiple awards for innovation, entrepreneurship and business partnerships. She is also an advocate of more girls in technology and on the board.
Kevin Barwick
A highly experienced Senior Chartered Accountant, with a career commanding over 46 years. Over his career, Kevin was responsible for business development and performed as a specialist audit partner across several sectors including Not for Profit (Charities, Education and City Livery Companies), Music and Film/TV Production and Transport.
Amanda Britton
Amanda graduated in Medicine from Birmingham University in 1981. She has worked as a GP principal (doctor) in Basingstoke for thirty years with a focus on Women’s Health, Paediatrics and Safeguarding. She spent ten years working with the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare where she was Vice-President and involved in developing national post-graduate qualifications. She has been a Parish Councillor and a Trustee of both the Ark Medical Fund and North Hampshire Medical Fund, each for ten years. She has retired as the Clinical Director of the North Hampshire Alliance, which is a federation of General Practices. Amanda is married to John, a retired Orthopaedic Surgeon and they have four children. Amanda is the Chair of the Governing Body’s Regulatory & Safeguarding sub-committee. She has been attached to Junior House since 2020.
Caroline Cazenove
Caroline was born in New Zealand and educated at Victoria University, Wellington, New Zealand where she gained a BA degree in Politics and Education. She lives in Ellisfield, Hampshire where she is a Parish Councillor and has three adult children. She has worked with the Youth Clubs of Hampshire and Isle of Wight for many years and was Vice-Chair for ten years. She has served as a Trustee of UK Youth, and was a member of the Central Council and then the Executive, of the Royal Overseas League. Caroline is one of two designated lead Governors for Child Protection matters and Chairs the Governing Body’s Marketing & Fundraising, and is a member of the Regulatory & Safeguarding and Nominations sub-committees. She has been attached to Gosden House since 2013.
Simon Clements
Simon is a Sternian (former pupil of LWC 1969-1976: Junior and Summerfield) and was Chair of the Sternian Association between 2006 and 2009. He has a BA (Hons) from Hull University in Hispanic Studies, took his Law exams in 1981 and went on to become a Barrister. He worked for the Crown Prosecution Service until 2020, when he retired. He currently works part time as an International Rule of Law and Legal Training Consultant. Simon was Chair of Trustees of the University of Hull Student Union between 2012 and 2017, and is currently Vice Chair of SAFE!, a Thames Valley-based Charity that supports children who have been the victims of crime. Simon lives near Reading, is married to Liz and has two grown-up children, and two granddaughters. He is the lead Governor for LWC’s Foundation and attends the Governing Body’s Education, Marketing & Fundraising and Nominations sub-committees. He has been attached to Hazelveare House since 2022.
Ruth Elliot
Ruth graduated from Warwick University with a degree in Psychology and has worked in HR, largely in City Law firms for the last 30 years, most recently as Director of People and Culture for Fladgate LLP, having previously been HR Director of DAC. She is a Fellow of the CIPD, the professional body for Human Resources and People Development. Ruth is married with two grown-up daughters. Ruth is a member of the Finance sub-committee and is associated with Park House.
Lucinda Fleming
After an Honours Degree in Politics and a HND in Music Technology, Lucinda worked in HR and then in a Piano Factory. Relocated to Japan for 6 years, she worked as a teacher and editor. Upon return to England she ran her own travel company and was Chair of the local PTA. Subsequently she was a Town and District Councillor and Mayor of Farnham. She was Surrey President of Red Cross and Chair of an Older People’s Day Centre for many years. She has 2 children. She is one of two designated lead governors for Child Protection matters and attends the Governing Body’s Regulatory & Safeguarding, Education and Nominations sub-committees. Lucinda is associated with Haygate House.
Nick C. Goulding
Nick graduated in Physics and Chemistry from King’s College, London and qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser, working at KPMG for over 30 years. He was elected Master of the Worshipful Company of Tax Advisers for 2012/13, was Honorary Treasurer of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (serving as President in 2008/9), and is a Liveryman and Hon. Treasurer of the Honourable Company of Air Pilots, Treasurer of Winchester St. Lawrence with St. Swithun-upon-Kingsgate PCC and The HM Tower of London Chapels’ Royal Foundation. Until recently, he served as a Trustee and Treasurer of St. John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group and has been appointed a Commander of The Order of St John (CStJ). Nick’s interests include aviation, astronomy and narrow boating. Nick is married to Amanda who is Assistant Priest in the United Benefice of St. Bartholomew with St. Lawrence and St. Swithun in Winchester. He chairs the LWC Pensions and LWC Enterprises Committees and is a member of the LWC Finance Committee.
Danny Gowan
Danny graduated in Law from the University of Otago in New Zealand and has practised law since 1975. He was Senior Partner of Davies Arnold Cooper, specialising in the construction and civil and mechanical engineering sectors. Danny Chairs the Campus Committee and is a member of the Finance, Nominations and Pensions Committees. He is also a Director of Stern Farms Ltd. Danny has been attached to School House since 2016.
Harry Hammond
Harry Hammond received a Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Liverpool. He worked in three schools, spending the last 26 years of his career at Radley College, where he was Head of Chemistry, a Housemaster and for ten years was on the Senior Management Team. In this role he ran the co-curricular programme and latterly fronted up ‘external affairs’, which involved overseeing all aspects of Admissions as well as Partnerships, Communications and Careers. He is married to Vanessa, and they have two grown-up daughters. Harry has now semi-retired to Norfolk where he continues to enjoy his cricket and golf. At LWC he is a member of the Marketing and Fundraising and Education sub-committees and is associated with Sutton House.
Robert Hannington (Chair)
Robert trained as a Surveyor and is a Real Estate Consultant. He is married with two grown-up children and lives in Hartley Wintney. He is a Consultant to Brompton Asset Management in regard to their Australian property assets and advises a number of Family Offices. He has over 35 years of experience in Commercial Property Investment, Fund Management and Corporate Finance, working for the majority of his career as a proprietary Partner of Knight Frank in positions such as Head of its Investment Division, Chair of Corporate Finance and, latterly, as Chair of Knight Frank Asia Pacific based in Sydney. As well as being Chair of Governors here since 2015, he is a member of the Campus & Estate Management, Finance and Nominations sub-committees. Robert is a Governor of Brighton College and a member of the Brighton College International Schools Board and Brighton College Bangkok.
Rachael Henshilwood
Rachael is a highly accomplished Educational fundraiser, with over fifteen years’ experience leading Development teams within the top independent schools in the UK and Australia, including Eton College, Marlborough College and Melbourne Grammar School, helping them deliver multi-million pound programmes. Rachael moved into Fundraising following a successful background in International Sales and Marketing, working with clients such as BT, Thames Water and Npower. Rachael is married to Alex, who is a House Master at Eton College, and along with their son, enjoys an active role in the House. Rachael now heads up the Development and Partnership teams at St Edward’s, Oxford.
Richard G Janaway
Richard is a Sternian (former pupil of LWC) and a former LWC parent; his four sons all attended LWC, and he now has grandchildren at the College. A Farmer and Businessman, Richard lives in North Warnborough and has interests in agricultural businesses at home and abroad. A previous Chair of Governors, for many years. He is a member of the Finance and Campus & Estate Management Committees and also Chairs the Stern Farm Committee.
Alasdair Kennedy
Alasdair has been Headmaster at Trinity School, Croydon since 2016. Previously Deputy Master, Academic at Dulwich College, he was educated at Fettes College, Edinburgh, and graduated in 1996 with Honours in Engineering and a PGCE from St John’s College, Cambridge. He has a wealth of experience in the independent day and boarding school sector having also enjoyed roles at Rugby and at Sevenoaks Schools. Alasdair is married with three boys and has a keen interest in both sport, being a Cambridge University Rugby Blue, and music, playing the piano, double bass and guitar. Alasdair chairs the College’s Education Committee and has been a Governor since 2015.
James Robinson
James became a Governor in 2018. He Chairs the Finance Committee, in which his extensive Investment, Accountancy and UK Charity sector experience is put to good effect. Married with four grown-up children, he lives near Basingstoke. Educated at Marlborough College, he obtained an Economics Degree from London University, before joining Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co (now KPMG), qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. He thereafter held a wide range of Investment Management positions in the UK and overseas (in Australia), latterly with Henderson Global Investors as Chief Investment Officer, Investment Trusts and Director of Hedge Funds. Since retiring in 2005, he has held a number of Directorships, in which he has Chaired Audit and Investment Committees and been involved with other Charities at Trustee level.
Graham Tongue
Graham has recently retired following 40+ years in Agri Business on landed Estates for private Clients in Cheshire, Lancashire, Devon, Hampshire, Suffolk, Kent and South Wales. Graham’s career covered a wide variety of aspects, from diversifying agricultural assets; restoring heritage buildings and renovating and building residential property. Graham is a committee member of the Cheshire Country Landowners Association and a former external examiner for Harper Adams University. Graham was raised on family farms in Gloucestershire before qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor, Land Agent and Valuer from the Royal Agricultural University. Graham is married to Alison, with two children both of whom boarded at St Neot’s and two grandchildren. Graham has previous involvement as administrator of an educational charity and is also now taking on charitable work assisting the local Church. In his spare time Graham is a keen traveller and gardener. Graham is a member of the Campus Committee.
Alice Waller
As a Sternian and Foundationer (former pupil of LWC 2003-2008: Park House), Alice returns to Lord Wandsworth College to join the Governing Board. Alice graduated from the University of Nottingham with a BA (Hons) in Hispanic Studies in 2013. She has since progressed her career in the legal sector, moving into the operational elements of a law firm when she helped establish a boutique litigation law firm in 2017. She is now Practice Manager for London law firm, LK Law. During Covid, Alice took a year out from the legal sector and worked in operational and administrative support for an independent secondary school in Kew – a valuable experience, combined with her legal background, for her role as Governor. Alice is a member of the Marketing & Fundraising Committee.
