“Our house parents aren’t just supervisors; they’re mentors and guides. The friendships I have developed in the boarding house are like no other, it’s like having sibling, we are just very close. When I head of to uni next year I know I am better prepared for that next step, although I am going to miss this place, so much.”

Where confidence is built through community
We all need role models. Our vertical boarding means 13 year olds through to 18 year olds live side by side, this creates special opportunities to build confidence, leadership skills and support younger pupils.
Boarding impacts academic outcomes and our results tell this story. The staff team take on the role of parent to provide academic support. This means that there is always someone on hand to unpack that tricky algebra formula and scratch heads together.
Our close proximity to London means boarding at LWC provides space to breathe. City life is a stone throw away and 1200 acres is available to roll out of bed to.
Embrace the Adventure of Boarding School Life
Life in the boarding houses at LWC is full of energy, friendship, and fun. Throughout the year, pupils take part in a wide range of inter-house activities and competitive events, including much-loved highlights like House Dance, House Song, and Sports Day.
Every week, each house runs its own in-house activities, creating a strong sense of community and belonging. From cosy movie nights and house BBQs to exciting off-site adventures, there’s always something to look forward to. These shared experiences help pupils form lasting friendships and make unforgettable memories during their time at LWC.
Boarding Spaces
In each of our eight boarding houses, we place a strong emphasis on communal spaces for relaxation, games, study, and rest. Every house also enjoys its own gardens and outdoor areas, providing pupils with a welcoming environment to unwind and socialise. Dormitory arrangements vary across the campus, from individual bedrooms for Sixth Form pupils to shared rooms accommodating up to six younger students.
In recent years, the College has made significant investments in refurbishing the boarding houses and continues to enhance these spaces to ensure they are modern, comfortable, and inspiring for all pupils.

“Boarding has been the best decision we’ve made for our daughter. She has truly blossomed—gaining so much self-confidence, trying new activities, building deep friendships and becoming more independent. The structure has helped her focus on homework without us having to nag, which is an added bonus! She feels part of a community, and we’ve loved watching her grow into herself.”
