2025-05-09 LWC Marketing Shoot-208

At Lord Wandsworth College, we work closely with experienced education consultants and agents who understand our ethos and expectations. This partnership ensures families receive accurate advice and personalised support throughout the admissions journey.

Lord Wandsworth College is a co-ed independent boarding and day school (for ages 11-18), set in 1200 acres of rolling hills and wooded valleys on the Hampshire/Surrey border. For our international boarders, we offer a home from home and the opportunity to thrive in breathtaking surroundings, less than an hour from Heathrow Airport and ten minutes from Hook Station, which has a direct connection to Waterloo.

An Inspirational Heritage and Progressive Education

At LWC, international pupils enjoy an outstanding education in a vibrant and inspiring environment that blends academic excellence with personal growth. Our rigorous curriculum prepares pupils for success at top universities worldwide. Life at LWC encourages independence and responsibility, with a wealth of extracurricular activities across music, art, sport and outdoor learning, that foster social skills, leadership, and teamwork.

We inspire pupils to carve original paths and seize the unseeable. In 1922, our founder, Sydney Stern, began ‘widening worlds’ and transforming the lives of orphaned children.

The aim was simple: to expand their opportunities and watch them flourish. Over a hundred years later, the ethos remains the same for all.

Outstanding Results and Personal Growth

With just over 700 pupils on roll we are small enough to really know our students, yet big enough to offer an extensive range of facilities and a broad curriculum.

Our students consistently achieve excellent exam results, while still enjoying our extensive co-curricular activities and leadership opportunities.

In our Sixth Form, a growing focus on life after school means our pupils develop greater confidence and ambition as they prepare for university and beyond.

LWC 3

Excellence through individual pathways

With an expansive curriculum and inspirational teachers, we encourage all students to forge their own paths; exploring futures more exciting than they could ever have imagined.

With average class sizes of 18 pupils and as low as 5 or 6 for some GCSE and A Level classes, our teachers provide highly personalised attention and support that encourages independent thinking and learning. Our pupils consistently exceed expectations in their GCSE and A-level grades.

LWC 2

The College has been given Alps 1 status

The progress of this year’s A-level students also places LWC in the top one per cent of schools and colleges nationally, based upon the A-level Performance System (ALPS). This means that on average, Sixth Form students at LWC achieve more highly than similar students elsewhere. Alps (A-level Performance System) is a national benchmarking tool that measures how much progress students make, compared to others who are educated elsewhere in the country.

Global Connections for Life

Our world-class facilities and dedicated pastoral care ensure every pupil thrives, both academically and personally. The campus is home to eight Boarding Houses where pupils build lasting friendships and receive outstanding pastoral support from the boarding team of staff, who act as their loco parentis. Boarding facilities are both homely and generous with pupils enjoying their own bedroom spaces, communal areas, gym, recreational areas, and acres of outdoor space and sports areas.

At LWC, international students forge lasting global connections, making it the perfect place for a transformative and enriching educational experience. At weekends, pupils can immerse themselves in activities, trips and cultural experiences that enrich their time at LWC.

We welcome pupils from across the globe and are proud of our thriving international community, with students from America, Africa, China, Russia and many European countries

  • How Education Agents and LWC Work Together for Student Success

At Lord Wandsworth College, we work closely with experienced education consultants and agents who understand our ethos and expectations. This partnership ensures families receive accurate advice and personalised support throughout the admissions journey. From helping students discover how LWC aligns with their goals to coordinating applications and documentation, our network of educational consultants acts as an extension of our Admissions Team. We provide them with the latest updates about our programmes, facilities, and entry requirements, so they’re fully equipped to guide families. Many of our consultants also stay in touch with families post-admission, helping with onboarding and transition support. This teamwork creates a smooth, reassuring experience for parents and pupils alike, and is one of the many reasons families trust LWC and our partner agents.
  • English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Our Curriculum Support department and our EAL specialist supports pupils for whom English is an additional language. Teaching is provided in a supportive environment and aims to set pupils on a path to independent learning and success. Lessons are provided by experienced teachers in small groups.
  • Guardians

All students whose parents do not live in the UK are required to have a UK based guardian. This can be a family member or friend or, alternatively, an AEGIS accredited guardian (aegisuk.net).

Guardians must be contactable and able to accommodate the pupil in the case of an emergency and when school is closed, for example at half terms and exeat weekends. All guardians must be able to act with the full authority of parents.

  • Sponsorship

We are a UKVI licence holder and able to sponsor international students under the student visa scheme. Please contact the admissions team for more details (admissions@lordwandsworth.org)
  • Agents

If you are an international education agent and would like to discuss the possibility of working with Lord Wandsworth College, please do contact the Admissions Manager: admissions@lordwandsworth.org.

  • Entry Requirements and Admissions for International Pupils

The main entry points into the College are 1st Form, 3rd Form and Sixth Form. There may be places available at other entry points, although these will depend on waiting lists and availability. The College really values the contribution international students make to the life of our community. To ensure pupils can thrive at the College, they will need a good level of written and spoken English. Pupils applying whose first language is not English may be asked to undertake an English assessment. All candidates who have registered are invited to sit the LWC Pre-Test, which can be taken online either at their current school or at the College. Candidates will also have an interview with the Headmaster as well as a senior member of staff, such as a Houseparent or Head of Department. Whilst we would prefer to meet applicants in person, we are happy to arrange for these interviews to be held online. Candidates entering at Sixth Form may be asked to sit tests in subjects they are proposing to study at A Level, and whilst they do not need to have taken an IELTS assessment prior to entry, the expected level of English for Sixth Form is IELTS 5.5+. All students whose parents do not live in the UK are required to have a UK-based guardian. This can be a family member or friend. They must, however, be contactable and able to accommodate the pupil in the case of an emergency and when school is closed, for example, at half terms and exeat weekends.
