Bramley House

Bramley House sits proudly in its own grounds at the western edge of the College boundary. Its wonderful symmetry allows us to be the only co-educational boarding house at LWC with a clear demarcation between the girls and boys ends of the House. The House is a home to all our 1st and 2nd Form pupils, from Day to Full boarders, and has been updated over the years with some excellent facilities; a music practice room, games room, quiet rooms, prep rooms, dining hall, a computer room and bright, spacious dormitories.

Pete has been a member of the LWC staff since 2015, taking on a range of responsibilities including whole-school pastoral roles, Senior Mental Health Lead, Foundation Tutor, and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. Before returning to LWC, he spent two decades working as a youth worker and regional youth adviser, experience that strongly shapes his relational approach today.

He is committed to building trusting relationships with young people, believing these are central to both academic and personal success. Pete holds a Master’s from King’s College London and is currently studying for a second in Attachment and Trauma, reflecting his ongoing professional development.

He teaches Religion and Philosophy and enjoys lessons that leave pupils questioning ideas about consciousness, ethics, and reality. Outside school, Pete is a keen runner, avid reader, and passionate cook who values bringing people together over food, especially cooking over fire.

  • Meet the Assistant House Parents

    Abi Edge – Assistant Houseparent

Abi Edge is one of the Assistant Houseparents in Bramley House, bringing warmth, enthusiasm, and a genuine understanding of boarding life. As a maths teacher, she is passionate about helping pupils grow in confidence and curiosity, supporting them both academically and pastorally within the house.

Having attended boarding school herself, Abi draws on her own experience to help shape a thoughtful and engaging environment. She enjoys creating small traditions that make boarding special, from a cosy atmosphere to memorable moments such as hot chocolate and biscuits on Saturday mornings, helping pupils feel at home.

Living with her fiancée and their two dogs, Margeaux and Ralphie, Abi fosters a friendly, supportive community where pupils feel valued. Her approachable nature and positive energy make her a trusted presence in Bramley, where she is proud to promote independence, resilience, and belonging.

    Natalie Bastiman – Assistant Houseparent

Natalie Bastiman is Assistant Houseparent of Bramley House, having joined Lord Wandsworth College in 2022 and quickly becoming a familiar presence within the boarding community. Now living in Bramley with her partner Harry and their two ragdoll cats, she takes pride in creating a warm, welcoming, and homely environment. She offers a calm, reassuring presence and a genuine interest in each pupil’s individual journey, helping boarders develop a strong sense of belonging.

Committed to pupil wellbeing, Natalie is also a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for 3rd–5th Form. In 2025, she completed an MA in Residential Education, focusing on how sixth form students access support in boarding schools, reflecting her belief in the importance of trusting relationships.

Alongside her pastoral role, she teaches Mathematics, specialising in Statistics for A Level Maths and Further Maths, and contributes widely to school life, including productions and staff community leadership.

  • Meet the Bramley Matrons

    Mel Rockett – Matron

Mel joined Lord Wandsworth College alongside her husband Ian, our Combined Cadet Force School Staff Instructor. She is a valued member of Bramley House, widely admired for her kindness, calm presence, and strong commitment to the wellbeing of pupils. She brings a wealth of experience from her work as an early years practitioner, SENCO, and adult learning support mentor, shaped by years of supporting families in a variety of educational settings.

Mel provides a steadying and supportive influence in Bramley, consistently going above and beyond to support pupils, parents, and colleagues. At the heart of her approach are care, patience, and a genuine belief in the importance of every individual feeling safe, supported, and valued. Family is central to Mel’s life, and she enjoys time with her daughters and granddaughters. She also has a fun, competitive side, reflected in her enjoyment of darts.

    Carly Butcher – Matron

Carly joined Bramley House on a permanent basis in September 2020, having previously worked as a Relief Matron in several houses. Living close to the school and having sent three children through the system, she knows it well.

No-nonsense but deeply caring, Carly helps keep Bramley House shipshape, providing emotional support, medical care, and pastoral guidance to pupils.

Married to Andy with three grown-up children, she enjoys walking her dog, good music, sunny holidays, and a good book, but is happiest when her family is together at home.

Her kindness, humour, loyalty, and dedication make Carly a valued and much-loved member of Bramley House.

  • Meet Bramley Pastoral Support

Jackie later joined Bramley as pastoral support and youth worker, running Hendersons and supporting pupil wellbeing. She particularly enjoys building positive relationships with students and creating a warm, welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
