Shakespeare
An award-winning Shakespeare programme gives every Fourth Form student the opportunity to perform on a professional stage.
For the past seven years, students in Fourth Form have taken part in an exciting annual project to create and perform a unique 30-minute abridged version of a Shakespeare play. Each production is carefully developed by the students and brought to life on stage at the prestigious Haymarket Theatre, giving them the opportunity to perform in a professional venue and experience the excitement of live theatre.
Throughout this journey, LWC has proudly worked towards and achieved a Gold Certificate for participation in the UK’s largest Shakespeare Festival, recognising the school’s sustained commitment to high-quality performance and creative interpretation. Every year, the chosen play is approached in a fresh and imaginative way, with a new style, theme, or theatrical interpretation that encourages students to think creatively while developing a deeper understanding of Shakespeare’s work.
It is a truly rewarding experience that builds confidence, teamwork, communication, and performance skills, while giving our learners the chance to engage with one of the world’s greatest playwrights in an inspiring and memorable way.
