Junior Concert
The Junior Music Concert was an excellent opportunity for the juniors to show their musical ability, and their potential as more advanced musicians later on in their college life. The performances across the evening were all thoroughly enjoyed by a proud audience, and from the energetic enthusiasm shown by the juniors, they seemed to enjoy the occasion as-well. The evening kicked off with the Junior Choir with their own take on well-known singles such as Price Tag by Jessie J, I’m Yours by Jason Mraz and Paparazzi by Lady Gaga. The beaming smiles across the faces of the performers really contributed to the warm spirit of the occasion.
The rest of the concert continued to produce such smiles; consisting of some brilliant individual performances from Daisy Squires, Cameron Newton, Beth McKinnon, Alex Craig, Ryan Sakellariou, Gemma Raymond, Katie Chatfield, Harry Badger, Hannah Evans and Imy Potts on a wide range of instruments including trumpet, clarinet, guitar, voice and flute. But on top of this were some talented ensemble efforts from the Beginner Strings and Brass Ensemble, as-well as the singing group.
A real highlight was a performance from the Jam Club – 3 groups of innovative students who had decided to take the task of composing into their own hands and see what they could produce as a band.
The Junior Sopranos’ sang a beautiful version of The Sound of Silence before the final performance again by the Junior Choir: a cover of Forget You by Cee-Lo Green produced similar, if not more enhanced smiles from the audience than the ones their performance at the beginning created, especially at the moment when every member of the Choir whips out their own pair of sunglasses!
Overall it was a wonderful spectacle, which gave both the performers and their parents a lot to be proud of.
